OsecoElfab has launched a new portfolio of pressure relief solutions designed for lithium-ion battery applications in the eMobility sector. Marketed under the OE Lion™ brand, the specialized rupture discs offer unique features that enable battery engineers, manufacturers and integrators to design safer, simpler and more cost-effective lithium-ion batteries.
The brand’s high-tech solutions are fully customizable to handle the varied and often challenging environments in which lithium-ion batteries operate in electric and hybrid vehicles. Whether it's the harsh conditions of sea travel, the fluctuating altitudes and temperatures in aircraft, or the compact spaces within electric vehicles, OE Lion offers a range of precision-engineered, custom solutions that ensure safety, reliability, and efficiency, even in the most demanding conditions.
We know that space on and around a battery enclosure is at a premium. We are experienced at addressing the space constraints associated with integrating lithium-ion batteries into the powertrains and other components of electric and hybrid vehicles. Our specialist rupture discs feature low-profile and space-saving designs to minimize the pressure relief footprint while maintaining full efficiency. Each disc can be supplied with different mounting arrangements to suit the specific battery or enclosure requirements.
The robust metal rupture discs provide fast, reliable and accurate emergency pressure relief, and enable battery designs to comply with safety regulations. We can add an optional Dual-Gard breather membrane to each disc for ongoing pressure equalization. Combining these two pressure safety features into a single device means both breathing and outgassing can be funneled from a common location. This improves ability to control and disperse flammable vent gases. There are also fewer components to assemble, which enables a less expensive battery enclosure, and offers opportunities for a simple, clean battery design that is quicker to assemble and easier to integrate.
